Eugene V. Russo; 79; of Speers; died Tuesday; July 23; 2002; at his home. A son of the late Michael and Millie Gelotti Russo; he was born in Belle Vernon on April 28; 1923. Mr. Russo was a member of American Legion Post 659 and the Moose Club; both of Belle Vernon. Formerly of Belle Vernon; he had resided in Speers since 1963. Mr. Russo retired in 1985 from the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. with 44 years of service and; along with his wife; owned and operated Russo’s Rink in North Belle Vernon from 1979 to 1986. He was a World War II veteran of both the U.S. Army and Navy. Survivors include his wife of 61 years; Patricia Galen Russo; one daughter and son-in-law; Susan and John Broman of Fallowfield Township; three sons and two daughters-in-law; Gene W. and Andrea Russo of Fallowfield Township; Michael Russo of Speers; and Mark and Ramona Russo of Rostraver Township; two sisters; Martha DiBattista of Rostraver Township and Emma Yates of Monessen; one brother; Joseph Russo of Long Branch; and six grandchildren; David Prokell; Justin; Michael Jr.; Caitlin and Tina Russo; and Jennifer Dusick. In addition to his parents; Mr. Russo was preceded in death by one sister; Kathryn Leonard; and two brothers; John and Mario Russo. Friends will be received in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC.; a Golden Rule Member Firm; 700 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon; on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home Friday; July 26; at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Ronald Cyktor; parochial vicar of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; Belle Vernon; officiating. Interment will be Belle Vernon Cemetery. Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 will meet in the funeral home on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. to hold services.
