Obituary

Eugene P. Jack Gilmore, 86, of North Belle Vernon, died Monday, June 23, 2003, at 9 a.m. in Mon Valley Care Center, Carroll Township. Born July 23, 1916, in Uniontown, he was the son of the late Cora Gilmore. He was a lifelong resident of North Belle Vernon, a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon and was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen Plant, where he worked as a steam plant operator. Mr. Gilmore was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy as a Fireman First Class, a life member and past president of the North Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department, a past member of the North Belle Vernon Borough Council, and a member and past Grand Knight of Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026. He also enjoyed writing poetry and had many poems published. He is survived by his wife, Helen Luzanski Gilmore, to whom he was married 65 years, one daughter, Anne Marie Gilmore of North Belle Vernon, one son, John Gilmore of Rostraver Township, and one granddaughter, Allyson Marie Gilmore of Rostraver Township. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon (724-929-6183). Services will be held Thursday, June 26, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian Parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Eugene P. Gilmore Wednesday at 3 p.m., and the North Belle Vernon Fire Department will conduct services Wednesday evening at 7, both in the funeral home.
