Obituary

Eudoxia Doolas, of 520 Charles St., Speers, died Wednesday, June 16, 1993, in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Doolas was born in Chios, Greece, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Irene Mitsos Popovites. She had been a Mon Valley resident for many years. Mrs. Doolas was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, Monessen and the Ladies Philoptochos Society of the Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Pete, in 1960, and by two daughters, Despina Doolas, in 1929, and Despina Ploussas, in 1985. Numerous brothers and sisters are also deceased. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Cono J. (Stella Doolas) Pezzino (with whom she made her home) of Speers, four grandchildren, Mary Ann Papantonakis of Speers, Mrs. Steve (Irene) Douglas of Canonsburg, Gregory Ploussas of Frehold, N.J., and Peter Ploussas of Mine Hill, N.J., and nine great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Rhome Funeral Home Inc.,1209 Grand Blvd.,Monessen. Trisagion services will be held at the funeral home Thursday at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday,with Prayers in the funeral home at noon followed by 12:30 p.m.funeral services at St.Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church,Monessen,with the Rev.Nicholas Pastrikos,pastor,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The family suggests contributions in Mrs.Doolas' memory may be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church,Monessen. The Rhome Funeral home Inc.is handling arrangements.
