Ethel Pearl Barnes;78;of 418 Ridge Ave.;Monessen;died Sunday;Dec.10;1978;at 4:15 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital. She had been in declining health. Mrs.Barnes was born May 6;1900 in Bedford County;the daughter of the late Amos and Margaret Smith Wigfield and had lived in Monessen for the past 61 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Monessen. Survivors include her husband;Aquilla Barnes;one daughter;Mrs.Chester (Gladys) Lear of Monessen;three sons;Glenn Barnes of Fairhope;Wayne Barnes of Monessen and the Rev.Edward G.Barnes;pastor of the First Christian Church of Burlington;Colo.;16 grandchildren;10 great-grandchildren;four sisters;Mrs.Zella Riley in the state of Indiana;Mrs.Sylvia Barnes of Bedford County;Mrs.Hazel Charles of Monessen and Mrs.Moneda Smith of Arlington;Va.;one brother;Edgar Wigfield of Everett;Pa.;and two half-brothers;Blair and Allen Wigfield;both of Bedford County. Friends will be received in the Rhome Funeral Home Inc.;1209 Grand Blvd.;Monessen;from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel Wednesday at 11 a.m.;with the Rev.Richard R.Giddens III;pastor of the First Christian Church of Monessen;officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Monessen Meals on Wheels program or the Monessen Ambulance Service. Rhome funeral directors are in charge.
