Ethel Darker Hornbake,319 Rostraver Rd.,Belle Vernon,died Tuesday,March 3,1981,at 6 p.m. in the Jefferson Center,South Hills Health System. She was 76. Born Aug. 31,1905 in England,she was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Round Darker.She was a life long resident of the Belle Vernon community. Mrs. Hornbake was a member of St. Sebastian R.C.Church,Belle Vernon,Belle Vernon Catholic Daughters of America Court 1522,the Ladies Auxiliary to the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659,the Tuesday Night Bowling League and the Belle Vernon Golden Agers. She was preceded in death by her husband,Francis A. Hornbake,in 1961,and a grandson,James Patrick Hornbake,in 1964. Survivors include two daughters,Mrs. Francis (Betty) Maguire of Belle Vernon and Mrs. Walter (Marcella) Severn of Pleasant Hills,three sons, George Hornbake of Belle Vernon,Robert Hornbake of Fort Worth,Texas,and Lawrence Hornbake of New Oxford,Pa.,15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Friends will be recieved in the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Parish Wake Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 8 p.m. Prayer Service will be held Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home,followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian R.C.Church,Belle Vernon. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Leonard J. Parzynski,funeral director,is in charge of arrangements.
