Mrs. Esther Berndt,age 59 years,of 311 Fallowfield avenue,Charleroi,died in the St.Francis hospital,Tuesday,January 13,1948,at 5:50 a.m.,after a brief illness. She was born in Pennsylvania,the daughter of Henry and Sarah Richards Porter. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon and the W.B.A. Review of Charleroi. She is survived by her husband,Rudolph Berndt,one daughter,Mrs.W.H.Sangston of Charleroi,two brothers,John and Richard Porter of Altoona,and one grandchild. Friends will be received at the Melenyzer Funeral Home. Services will be held there Friday,January 16,1948,at 2 p.m.in charge of Rev.George Kress. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Chas.L.and Edwin Melenyzer are the funeral directors.
