Obituary

Mrs.Estella Henry Bowers,wife of the late John Henry Bowers of Fallowfield avenue,died at 10 p.m.Wednesday,Sept.27,1944 at the Charleroi-Monessen hospital where she had been a patient for two months. Mrs.Bowers,a member of the esteemed Henry family,formerly of Henry street,Belle Vernon,came here with her husband in the early years of her marriage. The Bowers property,still standing today,was the first to be settled in the borough of Charleroi. She was active with her husband in the early history of the town,and has spent her entire life in this section of the valley. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and its various organizations,and of the Athene Club. Surviving are her son,Lloyd H.Bowers and her daughter,Mrs.Russell L.Carl of Pittsburgh,and one brother I.F.Henry of Okmulgee,Okla. Friends will be received at the Frye Funeral Home and services will be held there Saturday,September 30,1944,at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Lawrence B.Frye is the funeral director.
