Obituary

Ernest Dolfi,43,supervisor of instrumental music at Bellmarette Joint School District died of a heart attack Saturday,October 12,1957,at 1:30 in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. He was stricken about 12:15 at home. In tribute to the well known musical educator,all schools in the Bellmarette district will be closed shortly after students report for classes Monday morning. Classes won't be resumed until after the funeral. A resident of 310 Henry St.,Belle Vernon,Mr.Dolfi was born in Belle Vernon September 28,1914. He attended Belle Vernon schools and received his master's degree in musical education at Penn State University. He was director of music at Rostraver Twp.High School before going to Belle Vernon seven years ago. Two months ago,he married Dorothy Kane of Donora. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Assn.and director of the Belle Vernon Musical Society Band. He also held membership in the Belle Vernon Lions Club. He was also well-known in Mon Valley musical circles,playing as a member of outstanding dance bands in the area. Besides his wife,he is survived by his mother,Mrs.Angelo (Mary) Dolfi,two sisters,Evelyn,at home and Mrs.Nello (Theresa) Ferrari,Belle Vernon and two brothers,Alfred,Belle Vernon and Emil,Fairhope. Friends will be received at the Harold R.Toner Funeral Home,Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,beginning at 1 p.m.tomorrow. Funeral home visiting hours are from 1 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Services will be held Tuesday,Oct.15,at 2 p.m.from the funeral home,with the Rev.William Schatz,pastor of the First Methodist Church,Belle Vernon officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
