Ernest L.Rocca;80;of Charleroi;died Tuesday;Jan.14;1992;in Mon Valley Hospital;Carroll Township. Born March 25;1911;in Newell;he was the son of the late Saverio and Maria Adelina Rocca. Mr.Rocca was a member of Mother of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church and the Sons of Italy;both of Charleroi. He was a U.S.Navy veteran of World War II and retired from the position of manager at the Montgomery Ward warehouse in Charleroi. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by two brothers;Mike and Dominick Rocca;and three sisters;Rose Moore;Anna Dandrea and Josephine Andrews. Surviving are his wife;Marie Cardinale Rocca;one son;Samuel Rocca of Mapleview;one daughter;Mrs.Robert (Ernestine) Lackner of Charleroi;four grandchildren;Bobby Lackner;Annmarie Smith;Samuel Rocca Jr.and Stephanie Rocca;two step-grandchildren;Chris and Ryan Rocca;two brothers;Albert Rocca of Coal Center and Richard Rocca of Belle Vernon;and three sisters;Mae Traversari of New Salem;Mary Ellen Cain of Perryopolis and Irene Lama of Newell. Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Carl J.Spallino Funeral Home;819 Fallowfield Ave.;Charleroi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.Friday in Mother of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church;Charleroi;with the Rev.David Jastrab;pastor;as celebrant. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Carl J.Spallino Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
