Obituary

Capt.E.E.Lenhart,86-year-old master of the steamboat Margaret,died Saturday,April 29,1944,at his home,212 Market St.,Belle Vernon,after a three weeks illness. He was the oldest pilot on the three rivers when he retired four years ago upon completion of his sixtieth year in service. The Margaret,owned by the McCrady-Rodgers Co.of Pittsburgh,had been in his continuous command for two decades. Capt.Lenhart is survived by five daughters and two sons,Mrs.Thomas Hewitt of Lincoln Place,Mrs.Earl Hewitt,Pittsburgh,Mrs.Edward Morgan,Belle Vernon,Mrs.Ruth Allen,Monessen,Mrs.Charles Frye,Monongahela,Edward of Monongahela and Walter of Belle Vernon R.D. One sister,Mrs.S.S.Jones of Belle Vernon,21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren survive. Friends are being received at the Melenyzer Funeral Home in Belle Vernon. Rites will take place Tuesday afternoon,May 2,1944.
