Emery C. Brewer; 69; of 115 Vernon Avenue; Belle Vernon; died Wednesday; October 28; 1992; at 8:17 a.m. in his home.
He was born August 30; 1923; in Lowber; a son of the late Fred and Katheryn Haywood Brewer.
At the time of his death; Mr. Brewer was serving as president of North Belle Vernon Borough Council.
He was a lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area; where he was a member of Heritage Hills Tabernacle.
Mr. Brewer was a life member and current chaplain of the North Belle Vernon Fire Department; where he served on the Kennywood Picnic Committee for the past 40 years. He was a member of the Westmoreland County Firemen’s Association; the Southwestern Pennsylvania Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs Association and the Mohawks Association of Westmoreland County.
Mr. Brewer was past president and current chaplain of the Westmoreland County Boroughs Association.
He was member and past president of the Belle Vernon Golden Age Assembly.
A veteran of World War II; he served in the U.S. Army; receiving the Purple Heart; Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge.
Mrs. Brewer was a member of Free and Accepted Masons Belle Vernon Lodge 643 and was president of the North Belle Vernon Borough Democratic Committee.
He was one of the founders of Community Ambulance Service; and was a board member of the Westmoreland County Area on Aging.
A retired truck driver; Mr. Brewer has worked for Sentle Trucking Co. and Guttman Oil Company.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by a brother; William Brewer; and a daughter.
On September 25; 1992; he celebrated 50 years of marriage with Betty McClain Brewer; who survives. Also surviving are a son; Dale A. Brewer of Waynesboro; VA; two daughters; Nadene J. Brewer at home and Mrs. Ralph (Darlene) Waggett of Stockdale; one brother; Kenneth Brewer of Hopwood; three sisters; Mrs. James (Donna) Moats and Mrs. Richard (Beverly) Heffran; both of Washington Township; and Mrs. Michael (Linda) Zelesnick of Perryopolis; and three granddaughters; Behany Dawn Waggett; Amy Brewer and Jodi Elyn Brewer. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home;626 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;where services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m.with the Rev.Greg Smith;pastor of Heritage Hills Tabernacle;officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The North Belle Vernon Fire Department will hold services Thursday at 7:15 p.m.in the funeral home. The Mohawks Association of the Westmoreland County Fireman’s Association will pay respects Thursday at 7:15 p.m. F&AM Belle Vernon Lodge 643 will conduct services Thursday at 8 p.m.in the funeral home. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
