Ellamae Bowers,75,of Bridgeville died Thursday, Aug. 23,2001 in St. Clair Hospital. A daughter of the late Earl and Minnie Jones Owens,she was born June 5,1926 in Shelby County, Indiana. She was a member of the Mt. Lebanon Christian Church where she had taught the adult Sunday School class for many years. A graduate of Ball State University,she retired in 1987 after 10 years as the program coordinator of the Christian Church of Pennsylvania (Disciples of Christ) where she headed the Christian Women's Fellowship,camps and conferences,Christian Education,and Women's Retreats,youth work and the State Parks Ministries. She was a past board member of the International Christian Women's Fellowship and had been a public school teacher in indiana,Ohio and Pennsylvania. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Rev. Vernon H. Bowers,3 sons and daughters-in-law,Howard E. and Saundra Michael Bowers of Indianapolis, Ind.,Kevin L. and Diane Bowers of Weirton, W.Va. and Paul and Janet Bowers of Pittsburgh; 3 brothers, William Owens of Shelbyville,Ind.,Herbert Owens off Winter Haven, Fla., and Harold Wayne Owens of Hermando, Fla.; two sisters, Alberta Branson of Shelbyville Ind. and Mildred Eudaly of Brandenton,Fla.,and two grandchildren,Julia and James Bowers. In addition to her parents,she was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick Owens in June, 2001. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Mt. Lebanon Christian Church, Cedar Blvd.,Hollycrest Dr. Friends will be received on Monday at 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.,the time of Prayers in the Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
