Obituary
Eli Hammitt,aged 76 years, of 301 Wood street, Belle Vernon,died Monday morning,July 11,1955 at 6:15 o'clock in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. Mr. Hammitt was born in Belle Vernon, and was a member of the Presbyterian Church there. He had been employed as a glass cutter until his retirement. He was a member of the Charleroi Lodge, F. & A. M. and a member of the Lodge of Perfection of Uniontown. Surviving are a niece, Mrs. Charlotta Scales, of Philadelphia and a nephew, Donald Goslyne, of Belle Vernon. Friends are being received at the Melenyzer-Ferguson Funeral Home,Broad avenue,Belle Vernon,where funeral services will be held Wednesday,July 13,at 1:30 p.m. Rev. William Schatz,pastor of the Methodist Church, Belle Vernon,will officiate. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Charles L. Melenyzer and Shelby D. Ferguson,funeral directors.
