Obituary

Our Mother,M.Eleanore Tordy-Fiorino was born on April 25,1927 in Pricedale,Pa. She was the fourth child born to Joseph and Julie Tordy. Our mother grew up in the local Pricedale area with her six siblings. She attended local schools and graduated from Rostraver High School in 1945. Our Mother valued education. After graduation from high school she moved to her Aunt's home in Tarentum.PA and attended Nursing School. A few years later she graduated with her RN and became a Registered Nurse. She returned to Pricedale,PA and worked at local hospitals. She loved working in the nursery with all the newborns. In 1950,she married Louis Fiornio,Sr.and they moved to Mansfield,Ohio where she gave birth to her first child,Louis A. Fiorino,Jr. She later moved back to Pricedale,PA and met and married her second husband,James C.Eckard. To this union her second child,Eleanore LeeLee Edkard-Garces was born. The family of four lived in Pricedale,Pa.until 1960. Wanting more opportunities for her career and family she moved our family to San Bernardino,CA. The adjustment was not an easy one for our family but California soon became our home. Our Mother loved the sunshine and warm weather of California and even though she never knew how to swim she enjoyed our backyard pool. Our Mother attended State Teachers College in PA,and continued her education at the University of Redland in Redlands,CA. She received a Bachelors Degree in Education and a Masters Degree in Education. For sixteen years she taught Kindergarden in the Colton United School District. She loved her little Kenders . She also worked as a RN at many local Hospitals and Nursing Homes. Our Mother always kept her Pa and Calif.Nursing licenses up to date. Our Mother was a very hard worker and she enjoyed her work. At age sixty-five she finally retired. She loved to read. Sometimes she would read an entire book in one day. She always said she loved to get lost in my books . She loved the colors pink and violet. She loved fu-fu stuff and getting dressed up. Our Mother was of Hungarian decent. She loved cold dough cookies, nut rolls and cabbage rolls. She loved to wear her blonde hair in a bufont style. Right before her death her beautiful blonde hair turned grey and she would say to us the medicine made my hair grey . (It had nothing to do with the lack of Miss Clairol). In April of 2007 our Mother celebrated her eightieth birthday in her hometown with family and friends. She had a great time and enjoyed her celebration. For the past six years, our Mother's health steadily declined. Although her health declined, her consumption of chocolate bars and milk shakes did not. On December 05,2010 in the wee hours of the morning our Mother passed away. Our Mother will be missed by family and friends who affectionately called her Aunt Cookie . She will always be remembered.
