Eleanor Frances Davis (Fountain),84,of Monessen,formerly of Harrisburg,died Saturday,Jan. 27,2001,in her home. Born March 31,1916,in Harrisburg,she was the daughter of the late Edward and Viola B Murphy (Harding). She was Methodist by faith. She was the widow of Mr. Walter Davis,also of Monessen. Ms. Davis was a retired civilian from the U.S. Air Force with 26 years of employment. She began her career at the fomer Olmsted AFB,Middletown,Pa.,relocated to Tinker AFB in Oklahoma and retired from Robins AFB in Warner Robins, Ga. She was an electromechanical instrument and controls repairer and also a pressure and geared instrument and controls repairer. She received honors for 10 and 20 years of service. She also received the Bronze Zero Defect pin in 1966, the Silver Zero Defect pin in 1967 and the Gold Zero Defect pin in 1968. After retirement,she and Walter settled in Warner Robins, Ga.,eventually moving to Monessen. In addition to her parents and husband,she was preceded in death by two sisters,Mary E. Jones and Doris J. Murphy,and a brother,George E. Murphy. Survivors include four daughters,Shirley Y. Wilson and Patricia A. Patterson,both of Monessen,Eleanor F. Lane and Donna L. Fountain,both of Harrisburg;a sister,Viola B. Gardner of Maddox,Md.;a brother-in-law,Edward Johnson of Monessen;10 grandchildren,16 great-grandchildren,three great-great-grandchildren,other nieces,nephews and friends. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in Union Baptist Church,670 McMahon Ave.,Monessen,where funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Joan Rousseaux,pastor of Allenport United Methodist Church,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Beverly C. Draper Funeral Home, Monessen,is in charge of arrangements.
