Elaine Tordy, 85, of Belle Vernon, passed away Friday, July 24, 2015, in her home. She was born Aug. 16, 1929, in Monessen, a daughter of the late Kusti Oliver Hahne and Toini Eleanor Sutela Hahne. She was a member of the former St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Monessen, and presently a member of Lynwood Lutheran Church. She had been a member of the Lutheran Church Women. Elaine enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards and games. She worked as a cashier supervisor for the former Grants of Belle Vernon and Montgomery Ward of Charleroi. She had also worked for Traveler's Insurance Company in Pittsburgh. Surviving are a daughter, Denise and husband, Tom Hornack, of Lower Burrell, daughter, Jodi Tordy of Washington, Pa., son, Joseph and wife, Karen Tordy, of Hainesport, N.J., and daughter, Terri and husband, Kurt Shutterly, of Belle Vernon; 10 grandchildren, Tom and wife, Dana Hornack, Erika and husband, Scott Bitar, Seth and wife, Nikki Hornack, Kylie Kohler, Kayla and husband, Jason McConnell, Joseph and wife, Kathleen Tordy, Hillary Tordy, Tyler, Conor, and Colby Shutterly; great-grandchildren, Gabie, Luke, Cooper, Gia, Scotty, Baylin, Baustin, London, Barron, Gemma, Peyton, Faith, and Monroe; a sister, Ruth Perok; and a brother, Robert and wife, Donna, Hahne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Tordy, in addition to her parents. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., family owned and operated as a member of the Golden Rule, 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by services at 11 a.m. at Lynwood Lutheran Church, Wednesday, July 29, 2015, with the Rev. Matthew Stabe officiating.
