Elaine Backo; 82; of Belle Vernon; went to be with the Lord on Thursday; May 12; 2011; in her home. A daughter of the late Christopher and Gladys Abbott Bakewell; she was born in Brownsville on June 1; 1928. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon and loved gardening and playing cards. Survivors include her husband of 63 years; Metro Backo; one son and daughter-in-law; Jack Backo and his wife; Charlene; of Belle Vernon; two daughters and sons-in-law; Marla Dean and her husband; Tom; of Fayette City; and Kellie Mori and her husband; David; of Belle Vernon; two brothers and one sister-in-law; Jack Bakewell and his wife; Phyllis; of Belle Vernon; and William Bakewell; of Joppatowne; Md.; four grandchildren; Scott Backo; of Washington; Pa.; Brian Backo and his wife; Gina; of Munhall; D.J. Mori; of Belle Vernon; April Mori; of Belle Vernon; and two great-grandchildren; Ryan and Cecelia Backo. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by a sister; MariLois Hopes; in 1998; and one granddaughter; Amy Mori; in 1988.
