Obituary

Edward Sylvester Vales, 82, of Pricedale, departed this life on Monday, June 1, 2009, in the ER of Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. He was born Feb. 15, 1927, in Pricedale, son of the late Dunmore (Happy) Vales and the late Lucretia (Lula) Harris Vales. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge and a member of the Teamsters Union. He leaves behind his only living sibling, Lenore Vales Shaw, of Gulfport, Miss., his children, George Lawrence Vales, member of Trinity 32 Masonic Lodge, of Little Rock , Ark., Timothy Vales, of Pricedale, Milton Vales, of Sacramento, Calif., twins Marella and Michael Vales, of Pittsburgh, Edward Vales Jr., of Pittsburgh, Gwendolyn Vales, of Valejo, Calif., and Bobby Vales, of Oakland, and devoted companion, Colleen Murphy of Pricedale. He was preceded in death by brother George Henderson Vales and sister Beatrice Summers. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the ELEY/MCCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., Main St., Fayette City. Additional viewing will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 8, at the Pleasant Green AME Church, Johnson Street, Pricedale. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. in the church. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery, Belle Vernon. www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com. The Elks will hold services at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
