Obituary

Edward L.Stokes,64,of Donora, died Wednesday, Feb.
16, 1994, in Jefferson Hospital,
following a lingering illness.
Born Dec. 26, 1929, in
Charleroi, he was the youngest
son of the late Walter A. and
Nina L. Stokes.
Mr. Stokes was a member of
Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church,
Donora, where he served on the
steward and trustee boards.
He was a former employee of
American Chain and Cable Company
in Monessen.
He was also a member of the
Twinn City Lodge 76 F&AM,
Pricedale.
In addition to his parents, he
was preceded in death by one
brother, Lawrence A. Stokes,
and one sister, Elsie Marie
Canady.
Surviving are his wife,
Elizabeth Carter Stokes, three
sons and two daughters-in-law,
Edmund and Darlene Stokes of
Miami, Fla., Jerome Stokes of
Donora, and Timothy and
Michelle Lea-Stokes of Houston,
Texas, five grandchildren,
Jerome Jr., Timothy Jr.,
Darien, Cameron and Shannon
Stokes, one sister, Beatrice M.
Stokes of Pittsburgh: and a
sister-in-law, Brenda Watkins of
Martinsville, Va.Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.in the Beverly C.Draper Funeral home,508 Sixth St.,Monessen,and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7
to 9p.m. in Quinn Chapel A.M.E.
Church, 317 First St., Donora.
where services wfll be held
Saturday at 11 a.m. with the
Rev. Robert Taylor officiating.
Interment will follow in Belle
Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements
are being handled
by the Beverly C. Draper
Home.
