Edward L.Stokes;64;of Donora; died Wednesday; Feb.
16; 1994; in Jefferson Hospital;
following a lingering illness.
Born Dec. 26; 1929; in
Charleroi; he was the youngest
son of the late Walter A. and
Nina L. Stokes.
Mr. Stokes was a member of
Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church;
Donora; where he served on the
steward and trustee boards.
He was a former employee of
American Chain and Cable Company
in Monessen.
He was also a member of the
Twinn City Lodge 76 F&AM;
Pricedale.
In addition to his parents; he
was preceded in death by one
brother; Lawrence A. Stokes;
and one sister; Elsie Marie
Canady.
Surviving are his wife;
Elizabeth Carter Stokes; three
sons and two daughters-in-law;
Edmund and Darlene Stokes of
Miami; Fla.; Jerome Stokes of
Donora; and Timothy and
Michelle Lea-Stokes of Houston;
Texas; five grandchildren;
Jerome Jr.; Timothy Jr.;
Darien; Cameron and Shannon
Stokes; one sister; Beatrice M.
Stokes of Pittsburgh: and a
sister-in-law; Brenda Watkins of
Martinsville; Va.Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.in the Beverly C.Draper Funeral home;508 Sixth St.;Monessen;and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7
to 9p.m. in Quinn Chapel A.M.E.
Church; 317 First St.; Donora.

Saturday at 11 a.m. with the
Rev. Robert Taylor officiating.
Interment will follow in Belle
Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements
are being handled
by the Beverly C. Draper
