Obituary

Edward Fohner, 81, of Monessen, died Friday, March 23, 2007, in Havencrest Nursing Home, Carroll Township. Born May 31, 1925, in Monessen, he was the son of the late James L. and Mary Jane Spowart Fohner. He had been employed by Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel in Monessen as a pay officer. Mr. Fohner was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Donora American Legion, the Charleroi VFW and a member of Monessen Elks Lodge 773. Survivors include a sister, Mildred Fechter, of Barberton, Ohio, who is the last surviving member of 11 children, and numerous nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., a Gold Rule Member Firm, 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where visitation will be held Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, March 28, at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Bruce Northey officiating. Entombment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
