Obituary

Edward F.Swantek of 102 Nagy Ave.,Arnold City,died suddenly Wednesday,April 24,1985,at 5:10 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital. He was 71. Mr.Swantek was born July 27,1913,in Smithton,a son of the late Rudy and Anna Jawovna Swantek. He was a member of Holy Spirit Roman Cathoic Church,Fayette City,and the Polish National Alliance No.976 of Arnold City. Mr.Swantek was retired from the maintenance department at the Belle Vernon Area High School and was former manager of Superior Auto Parts in Charleroi. At the time of his death Mr.Swantek was employed as a maintenance worker for Rehoboth Presbyterian Church,Rostraver Township. Survivors include his wife,Julia Yonash Swantek,one son,Charles E.Swantek of Belle Vernon,three daughters,Mrs.Joseph (Judy) Stringhill of Belle Vernon and Mrs.Ronald (Pat) Eley and Mrs.Thomas (Debbie) Branthoover,both of Belle Vernon R.D.,nine grandchildren,five brothers,Rudy Swantek of Detroit,Mich.,Melvin Swantek of Dearborn Heights,Mich.,Teddy Swantek of Florida,Victor Swantek of Garden City,Mich.,and William Swantek of Valrico,Fla.,one sister,Mrs.Margaret Thomas of West Newton,and one aunt,Mrs.Frances Vidale of Smithton. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City,where a prayer service will be held Saturday,April 27,at 9:30 a.m.,followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church,Fayette City,with the Rev.Thomas G.Rinn,pastor,as celebrant. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. A wake service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
