Edward A. Pottgeiser; 73; of Speers; died on Tuesday; July 31; 2012; in his home. Born on October 26; 1938; in Pittsburgh; he was the son of the late Edward W. and Dorothy Nix Pottgeiser.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church; Charleroi; the Charleroi Italia Unita Club; and the Charleroi Sportsmen Club. He served our country as a member of the United States Coast Guard. He was a retired Optician for Nix Optical; in Charleroi.

Ed is survived by his wife of 41 years; Karen Carrick Pottgeiser; of Speers; son; Edward Chip (Lisa) Pottgeiser; of Harrisburg; daughter; Anita (Bill Garrington) Pottgeiser; of South Carolina; brother; Danny (Linda) Pottgeiser; of Pittsburgh; grandchildren; Kalyssa and Matthew Pottgeiser; and several cousins; nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Thursday; August 2; from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday; August 3; from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME; 819 Fallowfield Ave; Charleroi. A blessing service will be on Saturday; August 4; at 10 a.m.; in the funeral home; conducted by Rev. Robert Hanna. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
