Obituary

Edna Githens Lambert, 95, formerly of Belle Vernon, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, in the Barbara J. Egen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Shrewsbury. A daughter of the late William and Elma Shepler Githens, she was born in Belle Vernon on Dec. 1, 1909. Mrs. Lambert was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon, the ladies group of the church and was past president of the Charleroi Home and Hospital Club. Formerly of Belle Vernon, she had resided in New Freedom since 1988. Survivors include two daughters, Elma Winship of Buckner and Patricia DiGioia of Monessen, three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles W. and Emma Lambert of Lancaster, Harold G. and Betty Lambert of New Freedom and James A. and Verona Lambert of Lititz, two sisters, Grace Chalfant of Fairless Hills and Elizabeth McSteen of Pinehurst, N.C., 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and four great- great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold B. 'Lit' Lambert on May 26, 1985, a grandson, Anthony S. DiGioia, in 1960, and five brothers, Al, William, Robert, Lloyd and Samuel Ellison Githens. Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICE, (724-929-5300), a Golden Rule Member Firm, 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. Funeral services will be in the funeral home Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. David Lutz, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
