Edmund K. Martin of 44 Port Royal Drive, Belle Vernon,died suddenly Monday May 2,1983,at 2:55 p.m at Mon Valley Hospital,Inc. He was 71. Born Oct. 10,1911,in Belle Vernon,he was the son of the late John and Kate Worrell Martin. Mr. Martin was a member of the First Christian Church of Belle Vernon. He returned to Belle Vernon in 1974,after retiring from the U.S. Steel Fairless Plant in 1972. Mr. Martin worked at the Fairless plant from 1951 to 1972. Mr. Martin was a former president of the U.S.Steel Fairless Plant Federal Credit Union. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Dorulla Martin in July,1974;a son,Larry and a brother,Van Martin. Surviving are a brother,Harry (Bud) Martin of Belle Vernon;a sister,Hester Martin of Lemont Furnace;two stepdaughters,Mrs. Constance Hruska of Elizabeth Township and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Gingerich of Kalamazoo,Mich.;a stepson,James R. Morsitio of Hollywood,Fla.;16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends are being received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where funeral services will be held Thursday,May 5,at 1 p.m. with Rev. Bruce W. Smith,pastor of the First Christian Church of Fayette City, officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D. Ferguson,funeral director,is in charge of arrangements.
