Obituary

Edith Mary Nichols, 86, of Monessen, on Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, in Mon Valley Hospital. She was born in Belle Vernon on May 13, 1915, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Eleanore Coulter Martin. Mrs. Nichols was a lifelong Monessen resident and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. She was a former officer and member of the Monessen Eagles Ladies Auxiliary Aerie 2399. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Nichols Sr., two sons, Benjamin Jr. and Charles (Eddy) Nichols, two daughters, Patty Stout and Eileen Nichols, two brothers, Charles and Warren E. Martin, and one sister, Eleanore Gourley. Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Shirley and John Kudlik of Monessen, Alice and Allen McElfresh of Donora, Bernadette Keegan and Bruce Davis of Monessen, Gloria and Bruce DeStefano of Monessen, two sons and daughters-in-law, John (JT) and Sue Nichols of Columbus, Ohio, Carl and Cathy Nichols of Monessen, 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one sister, Ann Schiermann of Columbus, Ohio, two sisters-in-law, Hannah Martin of Sharon, Pa. and Eva Martin of Monessen, and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen. A blessing will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
