Obituary

Edith . Owens Panzo,75,of 527 Green St.,Belle Vernon,died Thursday,June 30,1994,at 1:03 a.m. in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh.  She was born Oct. 3,1918,in Fayette City,a daughter of the late William and Ruth Hough Owens.  Mrs. Panzo was a lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area,where she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was active in the Belle Vernon Library's literacy program,where she was a volunteer tutor.  Mrs. Panzo was a member of the ladies auxiliaries of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and Belle Vernon VFW Post 3557. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emil R. Panzo Sr.,who died Aug. 24,1979 and a brother, William Owens. Survivors include three brothers, Robert Owens of Charleroi and Richard and Herbert Owens,both of Belle Vernon and three sisters, Mrs. Ellsworth (Mary Ellen) Wilkinson of Belle Vernon,Mrs. Lee (Betty) Barnes of Gillespie and Mrs. Milred (Virginia) Book of LaFayette, Ind.  Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. James D. Burton,pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon,officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
