Edith L.Laird;formerly of Speer St.;Belle Vernon;died yesterday at 6:15 p.m. in the Waddington Nursing Home. She was 90. Mrs.Laird was born March 27;1891 in Smithton;a daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude Unger Stemberg. A member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon;Mrs. Laird came to Belle Vernon in 1935. She was a former member for many years of the Belle Vernon Women’s Club. Mrs.Laird was preceded in death by her husband;Andrew G.Laird in June of 1975;and a daughter;Ruth A. Ferguson on July 17;1976. Survivors include one son;Col.Paul G.Laird;U.A.Army retired of Trieste;Italy;two daughters;Mrs.James (Bernadean) Vance and Mrs. Maynard (Vivian) Jesick;both of Belle Vernon;one brother;James Stemberg of California;Pa;eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home;700 Broad Ave.Belle Vernon;today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held on Saturday;March 6 at 11 a.m. with the Rev.Charles LaPlaca;pastor of the First Presbyterian Church;Belle Vernon;officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson;funeral director;is in charge of arrangements.
