Obituary

Edith L.Smith Barger,93,of 223 Belle Vernon Apartments,died Monday,Sept.17,1990,at 4:20 p.m.in Haven Crest Inc.,Carroll Township. She was born March 3,1897,in North Belle Vernon,a daughter of the late Thomas and Anna Scullen Smith. In addition to her parents,whe was preceded in death by her husband,William L.Barger,April 17,1975,a son,David William Barger,a brother,Thomas Smith,a sister,Ann McEwen,and a granddaughter,Phyllis Louise Barger. Mrs.Barger was a lifelong resident of Belle Vernon,where she was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and its Ladies Guild and Legion of Mary. She was also a member of the Third Order of St.Francis,Catholic Daughters of the Americas Belle Vernon Court 1522 and the Ladies Auxiliary of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law,Thomas Joseph and Mary Louise Marasco Barger of Belle Vernon,a sister,Mary Catherine Smith of Belle Vernon,six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Tuesday fron 7 to 9 p.m.and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where a prayer service will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m.,followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.in St.Sebastian R.C.Church,Belle Vernon. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Services will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.by Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026 and Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.by the Ladies Auxiliary of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659. Rosary will be recdited Wednesday at 3 p.m.in the funeral home by Catholic Daughters of the Americas Belle Vernon Court 1522 and the Legion of Mary and Ladies Guild of St.Sebastian Church,Belle Vernon. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
