Obituary

Edgar Wilson,67,of 104 Grata Ave.,Arnold City,Belle Vernon,died Wednesday,Oct.13,1993,at 6:18 a.m. in Mon Valley Hospital,Carroll Township,after a lengthy illness. Mr.Wilson was born June 27,1926,in Homestead,a son of the late Andrew and Izora Wilson. He retired after 42 years of service with Beth-Energy Mines Corporation in Ellsworth. Mr.Wilson had been a resident of Arnold City for most of his life. He was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church,Belle Vernon,serving on the Deacon and Trustee boards of the church for a number of years. Mr.Wilson also served as church treasurer,president of the building fund,and assistant superintendent of the Sunday School. He was also a Sunday School teacher and a member of the church choir. Mr.Wilson also belonged to Mt.Calvary Baptist Church in Monessen and The Voices of Faith within the church. He was a member of the Monessen Lodge No.79,F&AM P.H.A.,the Senior Action Council and the Friends Club. Mr.Wilson also was a member of the Executive Board of the Monongahela Valley Branch,NAACP,and had served on its Ways and Means Committee. He had served as a member of the U.S.Army Medical Corps during World War II. Surviving are his wife,Dorothy Moore Wilson,whom he married Oct.20,1956,four sons,Edgar Wilson of Highland,Calif.,Conrad (and daughter-in-law Cynthia) Wilson of Torrence,Calif.,Craig Wilson a home and Lance Wilson of Oxon Hill,Md.,two sisters,Mrs.Finley (Izora) Carson of Arnold City and Mary Ann Goff of Charleroi,two grandsons,Trevor Wilson of San Bernardino,Calif.,and Quincy Wilson of Waldorf,Md. A brother,Andrew Wilson,a sister,Rebecca Dupree,and a daughter,Cheryl Wilson,are deceased. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the William R.Taylor Funeral Home,645 McMahon Ave.,Monessen,and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Antioch Baptist Church,Henry and Highlands avenues,Belle Vernon. Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the church with the Rev.Clifford Carter,pastor,Antioch Baptist Church,Belle Vernon,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Monessen Lodge No.79,F&AM P.H.A.will conduct services Friday at 8 p.m. in the church. The William R.Taylor Funeral Home,Trudy Taylor Jamison,director,is handling arrangements.
