Edgar E. Drake,pioneer Monessen resident,who had been residing in Pittsburgh for several years,died Saturday,April 14,1945,at 5:30 p.m.,following a lingering illness. He was 67 years of age. The Drake family was well and popularly known during their residence here where Mr. Drake was an instructor in music in Monessen and vicinity for over 40 years. For 35 years he was the pianist,at the Baptist Church,where he was a charter member of the congregation. Born in Norwalk,Ohio,he attended Adrian College,Obelin College and the Chicago Conservatory of music. Surviving are his wife,Mrs. Rachel Drake,one son, Donald Drake,of Seattle,Washington,and a brother,Frank M. Drake,of Lansing,Mich. The family home was at 189 Burrows avenue,Pittsburgh,but the body has been brought here,where friends are being received at the Melenyzer Funeral Home,in Belle Vernon,where services will be held Tuesday,April 17,at 2 p.m.,with Rev. John Fosnight,of Canonsburg,former pastor of the Monessen Baptist Church officiating. Interment,Belle Vernon Cemetery. Charles L. Melenyzer and Edwin F. Melenyzer,funeral directors,in charge.
