Obituary

Dr.Eugene F.O'Leary,72,of Greensburg died Monday,Aug.24,1998,in Shadyside Hospital,Pittsburgh. He was born Nov.28,1925,in North Belle Vernon,a son of the late Frank and Anna B.Koslosky O'Leary. He was member of Our Lady of Grace,Greensburg,the Pennsylvania Society,the American Medical Association,and the Pitt Golden Panthers. He graduated from Belle Vernon High School in 1943 and from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1951. A U.S.Army veteran of World War II,he served in the 69th Infantry and was awarded the Purple heart for wounds received in the Battle of the Bulge. He purchased the St.James Park in 1956 and developed it into Linden Hall,selling it to the United Steelworkers in 1976. He resided in Greensburg the past seven years,having previously resided in La Jolla,Calif.,for 14 years. He retired from his private medical practice in the Mon Valley in 1977. Survivors include his wife,Mary Lou Dominico O'Leary,three daughters,Linda O'Leary,at home,Colleen O'Leary of Monessen,and Terry O'Leary of Carmichaels,two sons,Timothy O'Leary of Fayette City and Frank O'Leary of Ruff Creek,Pa.,one sister,Marie Grabania of Charleroi,one brother,Robert E.O'Leary of Belle Vernon,five grandchildren and one great-grandson. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m.with Msgr.John McCarren of Pittsburgh officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Memorial conributions may be made to the American Lung Association of the American Cancer Society. The Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.,is in charge of the arrangements.
