Obituary

Dorothy J. Rex, 86, of Dunlevy, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 24, 2013, in her home. A daughter of the late Charles B. and Julia Dungan Hail, she was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on April 2, 1927. A graduate of Belle Vernon High School in 1945, she was a member of the Belle Vernon Church of the Nazarene and had been a Girl Scout Leader. Formerly of Belle Vernon, she had resided the past four years in Dunlevy and prior to that, 23 years in Florida. She was active in the Venice, Florida Church of the Nazarene and taught Sunday school in both Belle Vernon and Venice. Dorothy worked as an LPN in the Venice, Florida Hospital and volunteered at the Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Washim, India. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Edwina Jean Jones of Sarasota, Fla., and Barbara Ann and Ken Chiplaskey of Monongahela, one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Linda Rex of Carmichaels, one sister, Mary Alice Maytorena of Dayton, Ohio, two brothers and one sister-in-law, John Hail of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Joseph and Joyce Hail of Little Rock, Ark., 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Kelly, Lora Evans, Scott Jones, Kristina Kennedy, Eric Chiplaskey, Jill Briceno, Timara Padgett, Ryan Chiplaskey, Mark Jones, Jedediah Dzimiera and Cassie Dzimiera, 10 great-grandchildren and over 35 foster children.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Rex in 1979, a daughter, Elizabeth Betty Jo Dzimiera in 2011, and two sons-in-law, Ken Jones in 2010 and Thomas Dzimiera in 2008. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, http://www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com. Funeral services will be in the Belle Vernon Church of the Nazarene, Reed Avenue, Belle Vernon at 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor Fred Brucker and Rev. Julia Wiseman co-officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. If friends wish, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Society or Anova Hospice.
