Obituary

Funeral services were held this morning in the chapel of RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC. for Dorothy E. Doty, 79, of Monessen, who died Wednesday, Dec. l, 2004, in Westmoreland Manor. She was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Charleroi, the daughter of the late August Paytas and Margaret Tesack Paytas. Mrs. Doty had been a member of the former Most Holy Name of Jesus Church of Monessen and presently a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church of Monessen. Mrs. Doty was a past president of the Christian Mothers, president of the Xenska Jednota Branch 88, financial secretary for the Xenska Jednota Junior Branch 157, and the Western PA Fireman's Association Auxiliary. She was a former Girl Scout and Campfire leader in Monessen. Mrs. Doty had been employed with the Monessen School District, the American Heart Association of Greensburg, the Probono Office of Westmoreland County Courthouse, worked at American Chain and Cable-Pages Division during the War Effort, and had been the owner-operator and instructor of DD Ceramics in Monessen. Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Charles (Dorothy) Urbanowicz of Monessen, a son, Ronald W. Doty of Royersford, two grandchildren, Brian D. Doty of Royersford and Mrs. Bryan (Melissa) Miesowitz of Indianhead, Md., and a sister, Margaret McDonald of Montclaire, Calif. Preceding her in death were her husband, Leonard H. Doty, a son, Duane L. Doty, and a brother, August Ray Paytas. Fr. Ron Cyktor officiated and was assisted by co-celebrant, Fr. Joseph Grosko, National Chaplain of Xenska Jednota. Interment was in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Doty's name may be made to: American Cancer Society -Breast Cancer Research. The RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, a Golden Rule Funeral Home, was in charge of arrangements.
