Obituary

Dorothy E. Curry, 95, of Independence Village, Peoria, Ill., died at 9:58 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004 at her residence. She was born April 25, 1909 in Monessen, a daughter of the late Clark A. and Ethel G. Logan Derby. She married George Edward Curry on May 10, 1940 in Monessen. He died April 22, 1969 in Charleroi. She served as the North Belle Vernon Borough secretary for 15 years, retiring in 1976, and she was elected as the North Belle Vernon tax collector. Mrs. Curry was a volunteer for SCORE (Senior Core of Retired Executives) and Meals on Wheels. She also was a member of Duck Pin Bowler. Surviving are two sons, George Curry and wife Glenda of Peoria and Bruce Curry and wife Jan, of Beaver Falls, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Curry was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 17 at 3 p.m. in First United Methodist Church in Peoria, where visitation will be one hour before services with the Rev. Kenneth Pyles officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial of ashes will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
