Obituary

Doris A. McClain, 81, of Belle Vernon, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, in McKean Manor, Donora. A daughter of the late Charles and Iva Steele, she was born in Monessen on Nov. 6, 1927. Doris attended the Christian Missionary Alliance Church of Fayette City, where she had served as a pianist, and she was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 49 years, she was formerly of Monessen. Survivors include her son, John S. McClain, of Belle Vernon, three brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law, William McLaren, of Griffin, Ga., Livina McClain, of the state of California, George and Vivian McClain, of Rostraver Township (Fellsburg), Herb and Kay McClain, of Fallowfield Township, and Patsy Narey, of Carroll Township, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John J. McClain, in 2001, and a sister, Barbara McLaren, in 2007. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon (724-929-5300), www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com. Funeral services will be in the Christian Missionary Alliance Church of Fayette City at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, with the Rev. Bryan Cinelli officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
