Donald Raymond Ritzer; 85; of Charleroi; died Friday; Oct. 19; 2012; in his home. He was born Feb. 19; 1927; in Monessen; a son of the late Mary James and George Ritzer. Mr. Ritzer was a World War II veteran; having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church; American Legion Post No. 22 and the BPOE Lodge No. 494; all of Charleroi. He retired from the Monessen Southwestern Railroad in 1986 and had worked at the Exxon 70 Service Plaza for 15 years. Mr. Ritzer is survived by his son; Don Ray Ritzer and wife; Vonnie; of Elizabeth; two stepsons; Geary Shipley and wife; Kymberly; and Glenn Shipley and wife; Stacy; both of Charleroi; daughter-in-law; Connie Ritzer of Munhall; two granddaughters; Crystal Aston and husband; Brian and Sara Ritzer; four stepgrandchildren; Tonya Shipley; Geary Shipley Jr.; Jeromey Shipley and Raechel Shipley; and one stepgrandson; Dominic Shipley. Also surviving is his niece; Jane Lee Gibson of Florida. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his first wife Florence “Snooks” Ritzer; his second wife; Jacquline Shipley Ritzer; and his son; Terry L. Ritzer. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the SCHROCK-HOGAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC.; 226 Fallowfield Ave.; Charleroi; where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Members of the American Legion Post 22 will hold services at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
