Obituary

Donald M. Kerr, 76, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Dawson, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, in his residence with his family at his side. He was born Nov. 17, 1929, in Masontown, a son of the late Carl S. and Anna Mary Burrass Kerr. He was retired from U.S. Steel Clairton Works, a 27-year member of the Dawson Volunteer Fire Co., having served as captain at one time, and a former chief of police for Dawson Borough for 18 years. He is survived by a son, Dale C. Kerr, of Orlando, Fla., a daughter, Donna Diane McCune and husband James, of Belle Vernon, a sister, Maxine Harshman, of Dickerson Run, a brother, James E. Kerr, of Cleveland, Ohio, three grandchildren, Jamie Miller and husband Jason, and James D. McCune, all of Belle Vernon, and David McCune and wife Melody, of Confluence, four great-grandchildren, Chelsea McCune, Jason Miller, Talon Miller and Zaya McCune. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wava A. Wingrove Kerr, on June 9, 2001, and an infant brother and sister, Jackie and Geraldine Kerr. Friends will be received in the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 12 until 11 a.m., the hour of service with the Rev. Richard Klein officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
