Donald E. Saunders, 70 of Cecil Township, formerly of Charleroi, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at his home. He was born February 1, 1945, the son of the late Virginia Prentice and William J. Saunders. Don graduated from Charleroi High School in the class of 1963, and California University of Pennsylvania in 1971 with a bachelor of science, secondary education degree. He served two years in the United States Army (military police unit) 1966 to 1968. He taught in the Carlynton School District from 1971 to his retirement in 2004, in addition to teaching in the Earth Science Department. Don coached football at Carlynton for sixteen years, four years as head varsity football coach. He also coached football at California University of Pennsylvania for seven years (1981 to 1988). Don enjoyed many outdoor activities especially golf and salt water fishing. Don is survived by his sister Helen Paterline of Charleroi and his brother Bill Saunders of Bedford and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents don was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Marlene Saunders and Dan Paterline. Friends will be received Thursday, November 5th from 6 to 8p.m. in the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 6th at 11a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. If desired remembrances may be sent to the Salvation Army, P.O.
