Devina J. Bitonti, 86, of Belle Vernon, died Thursday, November 29, 2018 in Thorpe's New Dawn Personal Care Home, Charleroi. She was born August 19, 1932 in Monessen, the daughter of Octavius and Amelia Gatto DeRose.? In her younger years, Devina was employed in the jewelry department at Hills Department Store in Belle Vernon. In the late sixties to middle seventies, she and her husband Pete, owned and operated the Hoagie King restaurant in Lower Speers and Mister Donut in Belle Vernon. Devina was then employed by the Belle Vernon Area school district where she retired with over ten years of service. She was a member of St. Sebastian Church in Belle Vernon and enjoyed playing bingo at the Washington Township Firehall. Devina was all about spending time with her family. Raising her children and babysitting her grandchildren meant the world to her. She loved spending time with her siblings and having get togethers. She was always the life of the family gatherings, constantly joking, telling stories and making you laugh hysterically. She is survived by her son, David J. Bitonti, and daughter, Lisa J. Jesko and Wes Armstrong, all of Belle Vernon; four grandchildren, Christina and Giovanna Bitonti, Kenny and Nina Jesko; brother, Armand DeRose and wife Pauline of Monessen; sister, Sylvia Bednar of Cortland, Ohio; brother, Octavius DeRose and wife Joan of Lansing, Michigan; numerous nieces, nephews and their families.? In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter A. Bitonti, Sr. who died May 13, 1976; son, Peter A. Bitonti, Jr. who died March 1, 2008; and sister Pearl T. Hunter who died December 28, 2015.? Friends will be received on Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 2-8 PM in the Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10:00 AM in St. Sebastian Church with the Rev. Frank Gan as celebrant. Committal services and interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
