A former resident of Monessen;he resided in Pittsburgh for the past 10 years. He was born in Monessen;March 22;1951;a son of the late David Matthews Jr.and Doris Matthews Fields. In addition to his parents;Mr.Matthews was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother;Estella Matthews;his maternal grandmother;Rose Code and by his brother;David (Mitch) Matthews. A Methodist;Mr.Matthews was a member of the Wayman A.M.E.Church of Monessen. Surviving are five brothers;Richard (Tige) Matthews of Monessen;Michael of Pittsburgh;Francis (Red) of Charleston;S.C.;Donnell of Queens;N.Y.and Willis of Cincinatti;Ohio and three sisters;Davina Cook of Monessen;Nikki Matthews Jones of Pittsburgh;with whom he made his home;and Francine Johnson of Detroit;Mich.;and a host of relatives and friends. Friends are being received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.at the William R.Taylor Funeral Home;645 McMahon Ave.;Monessen. On Saturday;visitation will be held at the Wayman A.M.E.Church from 10 a.m.to 1 p.m.;the hour of service with Rev.E.E.Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
