Dennis J. “Elmo” Bilsky, 77, of Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. A son of the late John R. and Wanda (Kosevsky) Bilsky, he was born in N. Charleroi on October 20, 1947.
A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Dennis was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. He was employed as a teacher at Belle Vernon Area School District for over 40 years. Dennis was an avid golfer, having belonged to the Mensa League at Cedarbrook Golf Course, where he also worked as a ranger for many years. He also enjoyed hunting, trips to Myrtle Beach for crabbing and fishing, going to the Meadows Casino, Wheeling Downs for dog races, and was also a member of many bowling leagues and the Naomi Club. Dennis loved sports, especially Pittsburgh Steelers and Pitt Panthers football.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn (Deluga) Bilsky, a son, David A. Bilsky of Belle Vernon, a daughter and son in-law, Karen and John Avolio of North Strabane Twp; and three grandchildren, Paige Bilsky, Anthony Avolio, and Addison Avolio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Bilsky in 2012, a brother, John Bilsky, and a daughter in-law, Jill Bilsky in 2018.
Friends will be received on Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 3 P.M. to 7 P.M. in the Ferguson Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon. 724-929-5300. www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 2:30 P.M. in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Thomas officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Inurnment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery at a later date.
