Obituary
Dennis J. Popp, 68 of Stockdale, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017, in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born March 23, 1949, in Charleroi, a son of Arthur L. Popp, whom survives, and the late Rosemary Moussiaux Popp. Dennis was a member of Belgium Club of Charleroi, Eagles of Monessen and the 10th St. A.C. of Charleroi. A 1967 graduate of Monessen High School, Dennis received a scholarship to the University of Miami in Football. After graduating college, he had taught school and coached football at Johnstown High. He also had taught and coached at Southmoreland High School, Coached Monessen High School Football under Head Coaches, Jack Scarvel and Andy Pacak, and had been Head Coach at Frazier High School. Surviving in addition to his father are; sister, Arlene and husband, Joe DeStefon; niece, Shannon and husband, Anthony Angotti; nephew, Sean and wife, Cheryl DeStefon; and great-niece and great-nephews, Chase, Aiden, and Gavin Angotti and Ava and Benjamin DeStefon. Funeral arrrangements have been entrusted to the Rhome Funeral Home Inc. 1209 Grand Blvd.,Monessen,where friends will be welcomed from 5 to 7:30 p.m.,the time of services,Tuesday,April 4. Interment will be made in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
