Obituary

Delma Stofan, 92, of North Belle Vernon, died Thursday, April 2, 2009, in Mon Valley Hospital after a short illness. A daughter of the late John and Sabatina Rose Feola Trozzo, she was born in Belle Vernon on Feb. 2, 1917. Delma was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, the Golden Agers and the former Catholic Daughters of the Americas. A graduate of Belle Vernon High School in 1933, she worked for many years at the former Belle Vernon Glass Factory, Yencik's Market and the current Duritza's Market, until her retirement in 1982. Survivors include one daughter, Carole Stofan, of Belle Vernon, one son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Ellie Stofan, of Pinehurst, N.C., two granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Kimberly and James Richards, of Peachtree City, Ga., and Sheri and John Lex, of Davie, Fla., one grandson, Paul Stofan, of Deerfield Beach, Fla., one granddaughter-in- law, Penny Stofan, of Liberty, N.C., four great-grandchildren, Dillon, Jamie, Zachary and Jordyn Richards, two nieces, Joni Kelley, of Belle Vernon, and Pat Smith, of Delaware, three nephews, Lee Wallace, of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., Larry Tomayko, of Virginia, and David Tomayko, of Georgia, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Stofan, in 1974, one grandson, Barry M. Stofan, in 2002, and two sisters, Marie Wallace and Gilda Tomayko. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon (724-929-5300), www.fergusonfuneralhomeandcrematory.com. A blessing service will be in the funeral home Monday, April 6, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Lawrence Manchas as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed in the funeral home Sunday at 3 p.m., led by members of St. Sebastian Parish.
