Obituary

David P.Scholl,81,of Rostraver Township,Belle Vernon,died Friday,June 5,1998,in Mercy Hospital,Pittsburgh. He was born in Rostraver Township on Jan.8,1917,a son of the late David S.and Sarah E.Pore Scholl. Mrs.Scholl was superintendent of the Belle Vernon Cemetery from 1951 to the present. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon,where he served in various capacities as deacon and elder and was presently head usher of the church. He was a charter member of the Belle Vernon Lions Club,having served as treasurer for the past 45 years. As a member of the Lions Club organization,he had received the 50 year Charter Monarch Award and was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He had served as a school director for the former Rostraver Township and the current Belle Vernon Area School Districts. Mr Scholl was also involved in the following organizations:member and past treasurer of the Belle Vernon Lodge No.643 F&AM,member of the Uniontown Lodge of Perfection,the Pittsburgh Consistory and the Syria Shriners of Pittsburgh,and was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. In his work with the cemetery,Mr.Scholl has served as member and past director of the American Cemetery Association,member,past president,treasurer and director of the Cemetery Association of Pennsylvania,member and past treasurer of the Western Pennsylvania Cemetery Association,member of the Board of Directors and treasurer of the Mill Grove Cemetery in South Huntingdon Township. Survivors include a son,David L.Scholl of Belle Vernon,a sister,Sarah E.Trickett of Raleigh,N.C.,two grandchildren,Erik D.and his wife Julie A.Scholl of Gettysburg and Kirsten R.Scholl of Baltimore,Md. In addition to his parents,he was preceded on death by his wife,Mary Jane Lambert Scholl on July 8,1992,three brothers,Robert B.Scholl,William C.Scholl and Roy S.Scholl,three sisters,Margaret H.Rankin,Mary Ruth Scholl Stump and Emma B.Fettik and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Sunday fron noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the James C.Stump Funeral Home Inc.,580 Circle Dr.,Sweeney Plan,Rostraver Township. Family and friends will gather for a funeral service at the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon,501 Fayette Ave.,on Monday at 11 a.m.,with the Rev.James C.Ramsey,pastor,officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery,Rostraver Township. The Belle Vernon Lions Club will conduct a service Sunday at 7 p.m.in the funeral home,the Belle Vernon Lodge No.643 F&AM will conduct a Masonic service Sunday at 7:30 p.m.in the funeral home. The James C.Stump Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
