He was born May 9;1922;a son of Estella Matthews and David Matthews Sr. He was an employee in the blast furnace department of the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Surviving are six sons;Francis of New York;Richard;Donnell;Devin and Willis;all at home;Michael of Washington;D.C.;three daughters;Francine of New York;Davina of Washington;D.C.;Nikki at home;his mother;Mrs.Estella Matthews of Monessen;a brother;William of Washington;D.C.;four sisters;Mrs.Thelma Joyner of Monessen;Mrs.Willie Jane Newberry of Belle Vernon;Mrs.Jane Moore of Columbus;Ohio;Mrs.Theresa Wall of Monessen;one grandchild;many nieces and nephews.
