Obituary

Police are scouring the district for the driver of a hit-and-run automobile which snuffed out the life of David Davis, age 55, of Naomi mine, near Fayette City, early Saturday morning,August 26,1933. Davis, a bachelor, who lived with two sisters at Naomi, was found dead by a passerby about 6 o'clock Saturday morning. It was believed that he had been lying along the highway for at least three hours. His face was horribly mangled, virtually every bone in his skull and neck being broken.  Clyde McCory first made identification after he learned that Mr. Davis was not in bed at his home The body was removed to the McCrory funeral home in Fayette City and officers who reconstructed the accident later said that Davis had been dragged for about 65 feet after being struck. Much of his clothing had been torn from his body. Officers are searching for an automobile bearing marks of an impact with a body. It is believed the car would bear some telltale marks. His sisters believe that he was an habitual sleep-walker and that he probably met his death while walking in his sleep.
