Obituary

Darrell P. Dobas, 60, of Coal Center, formerly of Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with brain cancer on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, in Humbert Lane Nursing Center. A son of the late V. William and Christine Driesen Dobas, he was born in North Charleroi on Nov. 26, 1952. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Coal Center and the National Hot Rod Association. Darrell owned and operated Dobas Transmission Service in Charleroi since 1982. Survivors include his daughter, Madison Dobas and her mother, Barbara Cooper of Fallowfield Township, two stepchildren, Ashley Keppich of Bridgeville and David Altemara of Altoona, one brother, Douglas Dobas of Hershey, half-sister, Nancy Mackey of Morgantown, W.Va., one cousin, Judy Driesen, and close friend, Jim Sidary of Belle Vernon. Friends will be received 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, http://www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Kenneth S. Custer officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Darrell Dobas Memorial Scholarship Fund.
