Daniel Jones,Sr.,aged 51 years, a highly respected citizen of Belle Vernon,died Wednesday morning, July 23,1930, at 10:45 a.m.,after an illness extending over a year. He had been confined to his bed for the past six weeks. For a number of years he was employed as a mine foreman for the Monessen Coal and Coke Company,but of late had been working at the Allenport plant of the Pittsburgh Steel Products Company. Mr. Jones was a member of Belle Vernon Lodge 643 F.& A.M.,the Uniontown Lodge of Perfection and the Pennsylvania Consistory,32nd Degree of Pittsburgh. He was also a member of Brownsville Lodge Knights of Pythias. He has been a resident of Belle Vernon for the past 32 years. Surviving are his wife and three sons, Daniel Jones,Jr. of Cushing, Oklahoma,Leroy Jones,chief of police and chief of the fire department in Belle Vernon and James Jones, also of Belle Vernon. Three step-children,William and Thomas White of Chester, W. Va.,and Mrs. Anna Frazier of Belle Vernon also survive. Funeral services will be held from the home,437 Henry street, Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock, the service to be in charge of Rev. Elmer S. Rodkey,pastor of the M.E. Church,where the deceased held membership,assisted by Rev. M.J. Spear of the Christian Church. Interment will be made in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
