Cynthia "Cindy" Carroll, 57, of Monongahela, died Sunday, May 10, 2015, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born March 10, 1958, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Earl and Lorraine Wenzel Arnold of Henderson, N.C., who survive. Cindy was a 1976 graduate of Gateway High School and for 22 years was a server at Denny’s in Belle Vernon, where she was loved by many and brought a smile to all she encountered. She loved planting flowers, being in the sun, on the beach and reading. She also enjoyed watching the Steelers, but most of all she loved her grandchildren and was the most incredible mom and meemaw. A very strong woman, she fought the battle with cancer for a much longer time than most. On Aug. 19, 2001, she married James B. Carroll of Monongahela, who survives. Surviving in addition to her husband are three children, Kelly Yurchison (Craig) of North Huntingdon, Michael Mangie of Perryopolis, and Kristen Burns (Michael) of Washington County; six grandchildren; one stepson, James W. Carroll (Megan) of Monongahela; two brothers, Dan Arnold (Denese) of Burke, Va., and Jeff Arnold (Anne) of West Newton; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 619 Main St., Bentleyville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2015, with the Rev. Kharla Garner officiating. Interment will be in the Belle Vernon Cemetery, Belle Vernon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Charles L. and Rose Sweeney Melenyzer Pavilion and Regional Cancer Center, Second Floor, 1163 Country Club Road, Monongahela PA 15063 or the Hillman Cancer Center, 5115 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15232.
