Obituary

Cornelius Stephenson,13 Anderson Court,Monessen,died Friday,Jan. 7,1983,at 8:30 a.m.in Mon Valley Hospital. He was 80. Mr.Stephenson was born in Lonaconing,Md.Jan.8,1902. He was a Monessen resident most of his life. He was employed by Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel,Monessen plant,as an electricial general foreman prior to his retirement in 1965. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church,Monessen. He was also a member of the F&AM,638,Monessen,where he was a past Master. He served as an officer in Royal Arch Chapter No.290,McKean Commandry No.80,Charleroi. He was also a member of the Valley Consistory and Syria Temple Shrine,both of Pittsburgh. He was preceded in death by two grandsons,Kenneth and Terry Stephenson. Survivors include his wife,Mary Fleming Stephenson,two sons,Charles J.(Chuzzy),Long Beach,Calif.,and Earl C.(Buzzy),Monessen,a daughter,Mrs.Joseph (Betty) Slavino,11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren,and a sister,Mrs.Evelyn Delbarre,Pittsburgh. Friends will be received in the Rhome Funeral Home,Inc.,1209 Grand Blvd.,Monessen,Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Monday at 10 a,m,in the funeral home with the Rev.Kenneth Peters,pastor First United Methodist Church of Monessen,officiating. Burial will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Rhome Funeral Home,Inc.,is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Monessen through the funeral home.
